Google Acquires Agnilux, but Why?

Google has confirmed that it has just acquired Agnilux, Inc., a San Jose-based startup founded by former employees of PA Semiconductor. The question is why? After all, very little is known about the company or what it does … until now.
It was originally thought that Agnilux was producing low-power server chips, vital to Google, considering the massive server farms it runs. Now it appears that what Google wants is Agnilux’s expertise in porting Google platforms such as Chrome onto other devices—and especially onto Tablets. The technology that they have developed could help users run these platforms without draining the Tablet’s battery. That could be promising for Google, which must now compete with Apple’s iPad.
